# Mechanical Keyboard vs Thokey

The clearest difference is rating: Mechanical Keyboard at 4.4 against Thokey's 4.0. Mechanical Keyboard also leads on ratings volume (109 vs 9). Thokey's advantage is update cadence (every 2 days vs every 2 weeks) and review sentiment (97% vs 85%). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Mechanical Keyboard sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and Thokey sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.49 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mechanical Keyboard holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mechanical Keyboard has 109 ratings behind it against 9, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 85% of Mechanical Keyboard's written reviews are positive against 97% of Thokey's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Mechanical Keyboard ships an update every 2 weeks, Thokey every 2 days. Both last shipped on October 30, 2026.
