# Chat PDF vs PDF Maker & Edit

The clearest difference is rating: Chat PDF at 4.4 against PDF Maker & Edit's 3.0. Chat PDF also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months) and ratings volume (16 vs 2). PDF Maker & Edit's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.5). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Chat PDF sells 5 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and PDF Maker & Edit sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Chat PDF holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Chat PDF has 16 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Chat PDF ships an update fortnightly, PDF Maker & Edit every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 23, 2026 respectively.
