# Planote vs SiCal

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: SiCal at none against Planote's 6. SiCal also leads on iOS requirement (13.0 vs 15.2). Planote's advantage is ratings volume (23 vs 1). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Planote sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. SiCal asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Planote against 5.0 for SiCal. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Planote has 23 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Planote ships an update every 2 weeks, SiCal every 9 days. Both last shipped on October 25, 2026.
