# Serica vs Parallel Journal

The clearest difference is update cadence: Parallel Journal at every 3 days against Serica's every 2 months. Serica's advantage is iOS requirement (14.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Serica sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $29.99 per year and Parallel Journal sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Serica ships an update every 2 months, Parallel Journal every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 14, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
