# Writn vs Custos

The clearest difference is rating: Custos at 4.7 against Writn's 4.0. Custos also leads on in-app purchases (none vs 4) and ads (none vs shown). Writn's advantage is review sentiment (100% vs 91%). On price, ratings volume, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Writn sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Custos asks for nothing beyond the download.

Custos holds the better App Store score, 4.7 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 13 and 24 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Writn's written reviews are positive against 91% of Custos's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Writn ships an update every 2 weeks, Custos every 5 days. Both last shipped on October 24, 2026.
