# Shadow Work vs Soberchat

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Shadow Work at 74 against Soberchat's 2. Shadow Work also leads on update cadence (every 9 days vs every 3 weeks). Soberchat's advantage is iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.6). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Shadow Work sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Soberchat sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Soberchat holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Shadow Work has 74 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Shadow Work ships an update every 9 days, Soberchat every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 28, 2026 and October 20, 2026 respectively.
