# Elpis vs Annulus

The clearest difference is rating: Elpis at 4.5 against Annulus's 2.8. Elpis also leads on monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription) and ratings volume (508 vs 23). Annulus's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 5 days vs every 4 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Elpis sells 27 one-off in-app purchases and Annulus sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Elpis holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Elpis has 508 ratings behind it against 23, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 15% of Elpis's written reviews are positive against 28% of Annulus's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Elpis ships an update every 4 months, Annulus every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 23, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
