# Smart vs What

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Smart at none against What's 3. Smart also leads on iOS requirement (12.0 vs 18.0). What's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (weekly vs every 3 months). On price and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. What sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per month. Smart asks for nothing beyond the download.

Smart ships an update every 3 months, What weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 13, 2026 respectively.
