# Tails vs TopCheese

The clearest difference is ratings volume: Tails at 1.4K against TopCheese's 10. Tails also leads on device support (3 vs 1). On price, rating, review sentiment and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Tails against 5.0 for TopCheese. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Tails has 1.4K ratings behind it against 10, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 93% of Tails's written reviews are positive against 100% of TopCheese's.

Tails ships an update every 8 days, TopCheese weekly. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
