# Screen Time Control vs Ruler

The clearest difference is rating: Ruler at 5.0 against Screen Time Control's 1.0. Ruler also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 2 days vs every 6 weeks). Screen Time Control's advantage is monetization model (free with in-app purchases vs subscription). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Screen Time Control sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per 7 days and Ruler sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Ruler holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 1.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Ruler has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Screen Time Control ships an update every 6 weeks, Ruler every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
