# SnapLock vs Recode

The clearest difference is rating: SnapLock at 5.0 against Recode's 4.2. SnapLock also leads on review sentiment (100% vs 67%) and update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly). Recode's advantage is monetization model (freemium vs subscription) and ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. SnapLock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Recode sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

SnapLock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.2. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Recode has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 100% of SnapLock's written reviews are positive against 67% of Recode's.

SnapLock ships an update every 3 days, Recode weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 4, 2026 and October 5, 2026 respectively.
