# CloudGear vs 8bit Survival

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: 8bit Survival at none against CloudGear's 3. 8bit Survival also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 3 weeks) and iOS requirement (13.0 vs 17.6). CloudGear's advantage is ratings volume (559 vs 2). On price, rating, ads and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. CloudGear sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. 8bit Survival asks for nothing beyond the download.

8bit Survival holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: CloudGear has 559 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

CloudGear ships an update every 3 weeks, 8bit Survival weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
