# Whisperloop vs Rift

The clearest difference is monetization model: Rift at freemium against Whisperloop's subscription. Rift also leads on ratings volume (88 vs 16). Whisperloop's advantage is update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Whisperloop sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Rift sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Whisperloop holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 4.0. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Rift has 88 ratings behind it against 16, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 50% of Whisperloop's written reviews are positive against 45% of Rift's.

Whisperloop ships an update every 5 days, Rift fortnightly. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
