# Study Buddy vs Thryve

The clearest difference is ads: Study Buddy at none against Thryve's shown. Study Buddy also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and ratings volume (1.6K vs 28). On price, review sentiment, update cadence and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Study Buddy sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and Thryve sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Study Buddy holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Study Buddy has 1.6K ratings behind it against 28, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
