# Idea Note vs OwnNotes

The clearest difference is ads: Idea Note at none against OwnNotes's shown. Idea Note also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.6). OwnNotes's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs every 4 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Idea Note sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $0.99 per 7 days and OwnNotes sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Idea Note ships an update every 4 months, OwnNotes every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
