# BookQuest vs Shelvd

The clearest difference is rating: BookQuest at 4.4 against Shelvd's 3.9. On price, review sentiment, ratings volume and update cadence there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BookQuest sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month and Shelvd sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $6.00 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

BookQuest holds the better App Store score, 4.4 against 3.9. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 8 and 11 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of BookQuest's written reviews are positive against 67% of Shelvd's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

BookQuest ships an update every 2 weeks, Shelvd fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
