# grug vs SPECS

The clearest difference is ratings volume: grug at 3.3K against SPECS's 6. grug also leads on update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly) and iOS requirement (18.0 vs 26.1). SPECS's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.8). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

SPECS holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: grug has 3.3K ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 96% of grug's written reviews are positive against 100% of SPECS's.

grug ships an update weekly, SPECS fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 19, 2026 and October 6, 2026 respectively.
