# unhookd vs Luvu

unhookd and Luvu both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of unhookd's written reviews are positive against 37% of Luvu's. Luvu's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. unhookd sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Luvu sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for unhookd against 4.6 for Luvu. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Luvu has 308 ratings behind it against 18, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 100% of unhookd's written reviews are positive against 37% of Luvu's.

unhookd ships an update every 3 weeks, Luvu every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
