# unhookd vs RingLock

The clearest difference is monetization model: unhookd at free with in-app purchases against RingLock's subscription. unhookd also leads on ratings volume (18 vs 1). RingLock's advantage is ads (none vs shown) and rating (5.0 vs 4.7). On price, review sentiment, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. unhookd sells 10 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and RingLock sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

RingLock holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: unhookd has 18 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

unhookd ships an update every 3 weeks, RingLock weekly. The most recent releases landed on September 22, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
