# Speakwise vs Simple Journaling

The clearest difference is rating: Simple Journaling at 5.0 against Speakwise's 4.5. Speakwise's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 2 months) and ratings volume (78 vs 1). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Speakwise sells 9 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days and Simple Journaling sells 1 in-app purchase, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Simple Journaling holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Speakwise has 78 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Speakwise ships an update every 9 days, Simple Journaling every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
