# Apex VPN vs Checkr

The clearest difference is rating: Apex VPN at 4.5 against Checkr's 2.8. Apex VPN also leads on ratings volume (698 vs 4) and chart position (#205 vs unranked). Checkr's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 2 months). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Apex VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days and Checkr sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Apex VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 2.8. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Apex VPN has 698 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Apex VPN ships an update every 2 months, Checkr every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 28, 2026 respectively.
