# Study Nook vs Explanova

The clearest difference is update cadence: Explanova at every 4 days against Study Nook's every 6 months. Study Nook's advantage is ratings volume (5 vs 1). On price, rating, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Study Nook sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $10.00 per month and Explanova sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $99.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Study Nook against 5.0 for Explanova. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Study Nook has 5 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Study Nook ships an update every 6 months, Explanova every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 2, 2026 and October 4, 2026 respectively.
