# Text to Audio vs Reader

The clearest difference is update cadence: Reader at every 5 days against Text to Audio's every 5 weeks. Text to Audio's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.6 vs 18.6). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Text to Audio sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Reader sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Text to Audio ships an update every 5 weeks, Reader every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
