# HotSpot vs BAR

The clearest difference is rating: BAR at 5.0 against HotSpot's 4.6. HotSpot's advantage is ratings volume (36 vs 1) and update cadence (weekly vs fortnightly). On price, ads, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

BAR holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.6. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: HotSpot has 36 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

HotSpot ships an update weekly, BAR fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
