# Smash PDF vs PDFPress

The clearest difference is update cadence: Smash PDF at every 6 days against PDFPress's fortnightly. Smash PDF also leads on iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Smash PDF sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and PDFPress sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per year. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Smash PDF ships an update every 6 days, PDFPress fortnightly. The most recent releases landed on October 11, 2026 and October 17, 2026 respectively.
