# Otto vs BackPlay

The clearest difference is rating: Otto at 5.0 against BackPlay's 4.4. BackPlay's advantage is ratings volume (16 vs 2). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Otto sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and BackPlay sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Otto holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BackPlay has 16 ratings behind it against 2, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Otto ships an update every 3 weeks, BackPlay every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 27, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
