# Critterlet vs Mello

The clearest difference is rating: Mello at 4.9 against Critterlet's 4.4. Mello also leads on ratings volume (111 vs 5) and update cadence (every 4 days vs every 9 days). Critterlet's advantage is iOS requirement (15.1 vs 26.2). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Critterlet sells 13 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per month and Mello sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Mello holds the better App Store score, 4.9 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Mello has 111 ratings behind it against 5, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 100% of Critterlet's written reviews are positive against 97% of Mello's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Critterlet ships an update every 9 days, Mello every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 15, 2026 respectively.
