# Retrotype vs Lexable

The clearest difference is ads: Retrotype at none against Lexable's shown. Retrotype also leads on device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.1 vs 17.0). Lexable's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 months). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Retrotype sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Lexable sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Retrotype ships an update every 3 months, Lexable every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on October 7, 2026 and September 29, 2026 respectively.
