# Synapse vs Pretalk

The clearest difference is monetization model: Synapse at free against Pretalk's free with in-app purchases. Synapse also leads on ratings volume (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Synapse sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days and Pretalk sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for Synapse against 5.0 for Pretalk. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 3 and 1 respectively.

Synapse ships an update every 6 days, Pretalk every 2 weeks. Both last shipped on October 20, 2026.
