# WalkUnlock vs Cloudless Steps

The clearest difference is update cadence: Cloudless Steps at every 4 weeks against WalkUnlock's every 3 months. WalkUnlock's advantage is ratings volume (7 vs 1) and iOS requirement (16.6 vs 26.1). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. WalkUnlock sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Cloudless Steps sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 5.0 for WalkUnlock against 5.0 for Cloudless Steps. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: WalkUnlock has 7 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

WalkUnlock ships an update every 3 months, Cloudless Steps every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 23, 2026 and October 7, 2026 respectively.
