# Guardian VPN vs Secure Gate VPN Shield

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Secure Gate VPN Shield at 100% against Guardian VPN's 62%. Guardian VPN's advantage is ratings volume (1.1K vs 30) and rating (4.5 vs 4.3). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Guardian VPN sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $11.99 per 7 days and Secure Gate VPN Shield sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $9.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Guardian VPN holds the better App Store score, 4.5 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Guardian VPN has 1.1K ratings behind it against 30, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 62% of Guardian VPN's written reviews are positive against 100% of Secure Gate VPN Shield's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
