# Birder vs Chirp Widget

The clearest difference is monetization model: Chirp Widget at free with in-app purchases against Birder's subscription. Birder's advantage is rating (4.2 vs 3.7) and review sentiment (31% vs 0%). On price, update cadence, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Birder sells 7 in-app purchases, starting at $7.99 per month and Chirp Widget sells 5 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Birder holds the better App Store score, 4.2 against 3.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Birder has 34 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews point the same way: 31% of Birder's written reviews are positive against 0% of Chirp Widget's.

Birder ships an update every 2 weeks, Chirp Widget weekly. The most recent releases landed on October 25, 2026 and October 24, 2026 respectively.
