# EchoReads vs Rootread

The clearest difference is ads: EchoReads at none against Rootread's shown. EchoReads also leads on update cadence (fortnightly vs every 2 months) and device support (3 vs 1). On price and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. EchoReads sells 6 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Rootread sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

EchoReads ships an update fortnightly, Rootread every 2 months. The most recent releases landed on October 9, 2026 and October 16, 2026 respectively.
