# Notes vs Journal

The clearest difference is update cadence: Journal at every 5 days against Notes's every 2 weeks. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Notes sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $5.99 per year and Journal sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Notes ships an update every 2 weeks, Journal every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 17, 2026 and October 14, 2026 respectively.
