# BarShelf vs Proof & Ash

The clearest difference is rating: Proof & Ash at 5.0 against BarShelf's 3.5. Proof & Ash also leads on update cadence (every 5 days vs fortnightly). BarShelf's advantage is ratings volume (6 vs 1) and iOS requirement (16.4 vs 26.0). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. BarShelf sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per 7 days and Proof & Ash sells 3 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Proof & Ash holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 3.5. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: BarShelf has 6 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

BarShelf ships an update fortnightly, Proof & Ash every 5 days. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
