# Focus Study Timer vs Focus Train

The clearest difference is review sentiment: Focus Train at 100% against Focus Study Timer's 60%. Focus Train also leads on ads (none vs shown). Focus Study Timer's advantage is rating (4.6 vs 4.3) and ratings volume (76 vs 3). On price, update cadence, in-app purchases and monetization model there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Focus Study Timer sells 11 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month and Focus Train sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $6.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Focus Study Timer holds the better App Store score, 4.6 against 4.3. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Focus Study Timer has 76 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews complicate that: 60% of Focus Study Timer's written reviews are positive against 100% of Focus Train's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Focus Study Timer ships an update weekly, Focus Train every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 17, 2026 respectively.
