The clearest difference is update cadence: Maelstrom at every 2 days against Helix Ring's every 3 months. Helix Ring's advantage is device support (3 vs 1) and iOS requirement (12.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Helix Ring ships an update every 3 months, Maelstrom every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 6, 2026 and September 28, 2026 respectively.
