# Modcast vs Castria

The clearest difference is rating: Castria at 5.0 against Modcast's 4.0. Castria also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases) and iOS requirement (16.0 vs 26.0). Modcast's advantage is update cadence (every 3 days vs weekly) and review sentiment (75% vs 67%). On price, ratings volume, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Modcast sells 1 one-off in-app purchase and Castria sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Castria holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.0. Both are backed by a comparable volume of ratings — 5 and 2 respectively. Written reviews complicate that: 75% of Modcast's written reviews are positive against 67% of Castria's, so the app with the better star average is not the one people write more warmly about.

Modcast ships an update every 3 days, Castria weekly. Both last shipped on November 5, 2026.
