# Pictonico! vs Alpha

Pictonico! and Alpha both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Alpha's written reviews are positive against 64% of Pictonico!'s. Alpha also leads on monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Pictonico!'s advantage is ratings volume (701 vs 3) and iOS requirement (15.5 vs 26.6). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Pictonico! sells 2 one-off in-app purchases and Alpha sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Pictonico! against 4.7 for Alpha. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Pictonico! has 701 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 64% of Pictonico!'s written reviews are positive against 100% of Alpha's.

Pictonico! ships an update monthly, Alpha every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on November 3, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
