# Soon vs Countdown Widget

The clearest difference is monetization model: Soon at free against Countdown Widget's free with in-app purchases. Soon also leads on update cadence (weekly vs every 4 weeks) and ratings volume (18 vs 3). Countdown Widget's advantage is rating (5.0 vs 4.7) and device support (4 vs 1). On price, review sentiment, ads and in-app purchases there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Soon sells 4 one-off in-app purchases and Countdown Widget sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Countdown Widget holds the better App Store score, 5.0 against 4.7. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Soon has 18 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Soon ships an update weekly, Countdown Widget every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 16, 2026 and October 9, 2026 respectively.
