# Zen Slate vs Metis

The clearest difference is update cadence: Metis at every 2 days against Zen Slate's every 6 days. On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Zen Slate sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $19.99 per year and Metis sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Zen Slate ships an update every 6 days, Metis every 2 days. The most recent releases landed on October 10, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
