# Prism Notes vs Held

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Held at none against Prism Notes's 2. Held also leads on iOS requirement (15.0 vs 18.6). Prism Notes's advantage is update cadence (every 4 days vs every 3 weeks) and ratings volume (32 vs 4). On price, rating, review sentiment and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Prism Notes sells 2 one-off in-app purchases. Held asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Prism Notes against 5.0 for Held. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Prism Notes has 32 ratings behind it against 4, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews split almost evenly too, at 100% and 100% positive.

Prism Notes ships an update every 4 days, Held every 3 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 13, 2026 and September 30, 2026 respectively.
