# ScanShield vs Pulse

ScanShield and Pulse both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 67% of ScanShield's written reviews are positive against 40% of Pulse's. ScanShield also leads on ratings volume (160 vs 22) and iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. ScanShield sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days and Pulse sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $12.99 per 7 days. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for ScanShield against 4.6 for Pulse. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: ScanShield has 160 ratings behind it against 22, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 67% of ScanShield's written reviews are positive against 40% of Pulse's.

Both ship on a similar rhythm, roughly every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 30, 2026 respectively.
