# Jot vs Shasks

The clearest difference is in-app purchases: Shasks at none against Jot's 1. Jot's advantage is ratings volume (45 vs 1) and iOS requirement (18.6 vs 26.0). On price, rating, update cadence and ads there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Jot sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Shasks asks for nothing beyond the download.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.9 for Jot against 5.0 for Shasks. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Jot has 45 ratings behind it against 1, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Jot ships an update weekly, Shasks every 6 days. The most recent releases landed on October 18, 2026 and October 10, 2026 respectively.
