# Trace Camera vs TraceOverlay

The clearest difference is update cadence: TraceOverlay at every 4 days against Trace Camera's every 2 months. Trace Camera's advantage is iOS requirement (15.0 vs 17.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Trace Camera sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $3.99 per 7 days and TraceOverlay sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Trace Camera ships an update every 2 months, TraceOverlay every 4 days. The most recent releases landed on September 30, 2026 and September 23, 2026 respectively.
