# Video Game Tracker vs Backlogged

The clearest difference is ads: Video Game Tracker at none against Backlogged's shown. Video Game Tracker also leads on rating (4.8 vs 4.4) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Backlogged's advantage is update cadence (every 2 weeks vs every 4 months) and ratings volume (67 vs 6). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Video Game Tracker sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $2.99 per month and Backlogged sells 2 in-app purchases, starting at $1.99 per month. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

Video Game Tracker holds the better App Store score, 4.8 against 4.4. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Backlogged has 67 ratings behind it against 6, so its average is the more settled of the two.

Video Game Tracker ships an update every 4 months, Backlogged every 2 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 31, 2026 respectively.
