# Ask vs Handwritten Quick Notes

The clearest difference is monetization model: Ask at free against Handwritten Quick Notes's paid. Ask also leads on ads (none vs shown) and update cadence (fortnightly vs every 6 months). On price, in-app purchases, device support and iOS requirement there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Neither carries in-app purchases, so what you see is what you pay.

Ask ships an update fortnightly, Handwritten Quick Notes every 6 months. The most recent releases landed on October 1, 2026 and October 2, 2026 respectively.
