# FAA vs PPL Prep

The clearest difference is ads: FAA at none against PPL Prep's shown. FAA also leads on iOS requirement (15.6 vs 17.0). PPL Prep's advantage is update cadence (every 9 days vs every 8 months). On price, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. FAA sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $4.99 per 7 days and PPL Prep sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

FAA ships an update every 8 months, PPL Prep every 9 days. The most recent releases landed on October 5, 2026 and September 26, 2026 respectively.
