# MyPocketShelf vs Codex Books

The clearest difference is update cadence: Codex Books at every 3 days against MyPocketShelf's every 11 days. MyPocketShelf's advantage is iOS requirement (15.1 vs 18.0). On price, ads, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. MyPocketShelf sells 4 in-app purchases, starting at $3.49 per month and Codex Books sells 1 one-off in-app purchase. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

MyPocketShelf ships an update every 11 days, Codex Books every 3 days. The most recent releases landed on October 24, 2026 and October 29, 2026 respectively.
