# Color Train vs Alpha

Color Train and Alpha both sit at 4.7 stars, but that hides the real split: 100% of Alpha's written reviews are positive against 42% of Color Train's. Alpha also leads on ads (none vs shown) and monetization model (free vs free with in-app purchases). Color Train's advantage is ratings volume (570 vs 3) and update cadence (every 9 days vs every 4 weeks). On price, rating, in-app purchases and device support there is nothing between them.

Both are free to download. Color Train sells 11 one-off in-app purchases and Alpha sells 3 one-off in-app purchases. Whichever you choose, the download price is not the number that matters.

On the App Store both sit at effectively the same score — 4.7 for Color Train against 4.7 for Alpha. That said, the two scores are not equally well evidenced: Color Train has 570 ratings behind it against 3, so its average is the more settled of the two. Written reviews are what separate them: 42% of Color Train's written reviews are positive against 100% of Alpha's.

Color Train ships an update every 9 days, Alpha every 4 weeks. The most recent releases landed on October 30, 2026 and October 25, 2026 respectively.
